I disagree but see some logic to it. Anet depends on sales of new versions + existing players getting future expansions.

If your play style is go through with a single concept then get bored, those people tend to leave. People not adapt to change also leave.

If the game get's too "static" it's may die. Oh to beat ignore xyz and just do this and hope a new game doesn't distract you from chapter 2.

New players are not going to know the "old" way. I rember attrbute refund points, lots of chests w/o keys, and no green items. They will pick up the game and figure out how in the new system.

Where I see some logic is Anet expect to lose players over time, and depends on getting new ones. I don't think reducing there bandwidth by getting people to leave was the purpose at all. They have to keep the game fresh to attrack new people.

This game was so fun when it was new and there was now FOTM and specific builds you had to play, you group up and went out. Formed guild with your friends.

Here's a thought: what about those of us that use henchies to round out the party? Screwed or not?

I must say I am somewhat amazed with the number of people who enjoyed PvE because it was easy.

Exactly, they just cut-off a good portion of their revenue. The expansions would mainly affect the PvE side since any changes to PvP with an expansion would unbalance PvP for those without the expansion; thus A.net successfully created a large gouge in their life line.

People want to relax when playing a game, not get frustrated and spend 2-4x more time in it.

Honestly, I worried about this too, as I'm almost exclusively with henchies (sorry, I just don't trust that random W/R to wait while us casters regen our energy. Nor do I trust that Mo/R to keep the group healed, and forget using a bow to kill enemies.)

Remember, the update improved the henchy AI to avoid AoEs too. Orion, well, he was almost useless to begin with. I don't see this update affecting Claude, Lina, Alesia, Thom, Stefan, or Reyna at all. Orion's Firestorm helped at times, but if you relied on HIM to succeed... I'm a little worried about you. Enemies will scatter from his Firestorm, but remember: protect your casters, and call every single target for them.

More difficult? Probably. Impossible? I don't see it that way, yes.

lets see over 800 thousand users online * x amount of band width before patch. 400 thousand * x amount of band width online after patch is a substantial raise if u ask me.

was saving up for fissure armor or ANYTHING that might make the game more enjoyable after the 400+ hours i had put into it. but now that they have nerfed AOE by making AI run from them, the game seems so bland.

They also like to complain that PvE isn't challenging enough.

Very true...I am usually stressed out after work and I dont need a GAME making it worse...I enjoyed going out and killing a mob with some AoE (stress relief)...I dont really agree with this update

Actually, my real question about henchies was based on the idea that success in PvE will now be contingent on better strategy and more diverse teams & skills. The henchies are about as cookie-cutter as you get.

Just curious, a Damage over Time (Dot) Area of Effect (AoE) skill/spell. How, exactly, does that work now? Don’t they have to spend time in the area to be damaged over time? Why do these specific skills/spells even exist now? Besides scattering foes, and hitting only once, what good is Fire Storm? Just answer that one if the first question was too hard.

This sounds odd but when something happens Denial, Anger, Acceptance (play or move on). No one like real change, myself included, this sets me back till I learn new ways to play. Time will determine how much this really hurt.

Side note, this happened right around they hit the millions sales quota. They may have the cash reserves to hold out for dip loss. If you think about x players I quit the games reasons, it became harder (more skill), you can't farm (but that will not stop and posts are indicating they can, just differently), or it's always changing. Those foundation that the game was based on.

I do fully admit this is one of the more drastic changes and I know they beta tested it. They also have an idea of how ele will change and they like it to be that way from there testing. I may not like ele anymore, I've only played ele, I have 5 more classes to choose from + more with chapter 2.
